Ron Butler

Ronald "Ron" Butler, Jr. is an accomplished television actor, director, and comedian, recognized for his memorable role as Oscar, the witty receptionist on the Nickelodeon series *True Jackson, VP*, which aired from 2008 to 2011. Butler has also gained attention for his comedic portrayals of former President Barack Obama in various sketches, showcasing his versatility and humor. With over two decades of experience at the Atlantic Theater Company, he has honed his craft in both performance and direction.

Born in the Bahamas, Butler is the son of renowned calypso artist Ronnie Butler, Sr., and often took the stage alongside his father in his youth. His upbringing was split between the sunny shores of the Bahamas and the urban landscapes of Washington, D.C., Virginia, and the suburbs of Syracuse, New York. Butler completed his high school education in the Bahamas before earning a magna cum laude degree in History and Economics from Trinity International University in 1985.

Before diving into acting, Butler worked as an economic consultant for a law firm in Washington, D.C. It was during this time that he pursued his passion for acting, training privately with Vera Katz at Howard University and performing in regional theatre. He later studied under notable figures such as David Mamet and William H. Macy, further solidifying his reputation in the theater community.
