Jeff Buckley

Jeffrey Scott Buckley, an influential American singer-songwriter and guitarist, was born on November 17, 1966, in Anaheim, California. As the son of renowned folk musician Tim Buckley, Jeff experienced a complicated relationship with his father, which shaped his journey in the music world. He developed a unique sound that fused rock, soul, folk, and blues, all showcased through his extraordinary four-octave vocal range.

Buckley first garnered attention in New York City's East Village, especially at Sin-é, a café that became pivotal to his early career. His debut album, "Grace," released in 1994, has since been hailed as a classic. The record includes poignant tracks such as "Lover, You Should’ve Come Over" and his celebrated rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," which has since become a defining piece of his legacy.

Tragically, Buckley’s life was cut short on May 29, 1997, when he drowned in the Wolf River Harbor, a channel of the Mississippi River in Memphis. He was only 30 years old at the time, and his death was ruled accidental, with no drugs or alcohol present.

Despite his brief career, Buckley's influence endures, inspiring countless musicians across diverse genres. His ethereal and emotive voice remains one of the most captivating in contemporary music, solidifying his status as an iconic figure in the industry.
