David Fleeshman
David Fleeshman, born on July 11, 1952, in Glasgow, Scotland, is a multifaceted British actor, broadcaster, drama educator, and theatre director with a rich career spanning film, radio, television, and stage. Coming from a Jewish family, Fleeshman's early training at The Birmingham Theatre School paved the way for his stage debut in 1973 with the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. He further honed his craft as an actor and assistant stage manager at the Octagon Theatre in Bolton, and he served as an associate director at the Oldham Coliseum Theatre.
In 1978, he married actress Sue Jenkins, known for her roles in "Coronation Street" and "Brookside." Together, they have three children, all of whom have pursued careers in acting: Emily, Richard, and Rosie Fleeshman.
Fleeshman's directing achievements include the European premiere of Neil Simon's "Biloxi Blues" and the regional premiere of "My Night With Reg," which garnered the award for best production at the Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards. His performance in Arthur Miller's "The Price" earned him the best actor in a supporting role accolade at the same awards in 2005.
His extensive television credits feature iconic series such as "Boys from the Blackstuff," "Silent Witness," and "Only Fools and Horses," alongside guest appearances in shows like "Coronation Street" and "EastEnders." He has also made notable contributions to BBC Radio.
Fleeshman toured with the Royal National Theatre's acclaimed "War Horse" from 2013 to 2015 and took on significant roles in productions like Channel 4's "National Treasure" and "Darkness, Darkness." In 2018, he received a nomination for best supporting actor at the Manchester Theatre Awards for his portrayal of Uncle Vanya.
