Frank Coghlan Jr.
Frank Coghlan Jr. (1916–2009) was a multifaceted American actor who transitioned into a distinguished career as a United States Navy officer and Naval Aviator. His entertainment career spanned over five decades, during which he participated in around 129 films and television shows from 1920 to 1974.
In the 1920s and 1930s, Coghlan gained fame as a beloved child actor, notably featuring in the early Our Gang comedies. However, his most memorable role came when he portrayed Billy Batson in the classic serial Adventures of Captain Marvel, which solidified his place in cinematic history.
Following his successful stint in Hollywood, Coghlan enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942, dedicating 23 years of his life to military service. As an aviator and officer, he showcased his leadership and commitment until his retirement in 1965.
After concluding his naval career, Coghlan returned to the entertainment industry, where he resumed acting in various television shows, films, and commercials, proving his versatility and enduring appeal.
