Weruche Opia
Reanne Weruche Opia, born on April 11, 1987, is a dynamic British-Nigerian actress and entrepreneur, recognized for her impactful contributions to both the entertainment industry and fashion. She is the visionary founder and CEO of Jesus Junkie Clothing, a clothing line that reflects her unique style and perspective. Opia earned a nomination for the prestigious British Academy Television Award for her remarkable portrayal in the critically acclaimed BBC miniseries, *I May Destroy You*, which aired in 2020.
Originally hailing from Lagos, Nigeria, Opia relocated to South East London at the age of 13. She comes from a family deeply rooted in the arts and academia, with her father being a noted author and social sciences professor, and her mother, Ruth Benamaisia-Opia, a respected broadcaster and television host. Opia holds a degree in drama and sociology from the University of the West of England, Bristol.
Her career began with a guest role in the 2010 episode of *The Bill*, followed by a transformative year with the Renegade Theatre Company in Nigeria. Upon her return to the UK, she appeared in notable series such as *Top Boy* and *Suspects*. Opia gained popularity for her character Cleopatra Ofoedo in the BBC's *Bad Education* and its film adaptation.
