Kao Pao-shu, also known as Gao Baoshu (Chinese: 高寶樹; 1932–2000), was a prominent Chinese actress, producer, writer, and film director whose prolific career spanned over several decades and included more than 100 films. Born in China, she relocated to Hong Kong in 1951, where she initially took on smaller roles. In 1958, she joined the prestigious Shaw Brothers Studio, where she blossomed as a leading actress, featuring in over 80 films and collaborating with acclaimed directors such as Yueh Feng and Cheng Kang.

Kao made her directorial debut in 1970 with "Lady with a Sword," marking a significant milestone in her career as she transitioned from acting to directing. Throughout the 1970s, she established her own production company, where she focused on producing films, further showcasing her versatility and dedication to the industry.

Her contributions to cinema were profound, and she was celebrated for her performances and behind-the-scenes work. After a successful career, Kao Pao-shu retired in the 1980s, leaving behind a legacy of influential films and performances that continued to inspire future generations. Tragically, she passed away in July 2000 at the age of 68, but her impact on Chinese cinema endures.
