Rita Rätsepp

Rita Rätsepp, born on July 17, 1962, is a prominent Estonian actress and psychologist whose artistic journey commenced in the mid-1980s. With a versatile career encompassing stage performances, television roles, and film appearances, Rätsepp has become a notable figure in the Estonian entertainment industry.

Raised in the picturesque village of Tammiku within Lääne-Viru County, Rita is the daughter of Richard Rätsepp, a dedicated forester, and Aino Amanda Rätsepp (née Kull). Her formative years were spent attending secondary schools in Rakke and Võhma before she pursued her passion for the performing arts. Rita enrolled at the Tallinn State Conservatory—currently known as the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre—where she honed her craft under the guidance of esteemed instructor Mikk Mikiver, graduating in 1984 alongside fellow talents such as Terje Pennie and Peeter Sauter.

In addition to her acting career, Rätsepp has a strong academic background in psychology. She furthered her education by earning a master’s degree in social sciences with a focus on psychology from University Nord in Tallinn in 2008. Her dual expertise in the arts and psychology enriches her performances and professional endeavors, reflecting her commitment to both fields and her enduring influence in Estonian culture.
