Bálint Kenyeres is a distinguished filmmaker hailing from Budapest, born in 1976. He embarked on his academic journey by immersing himself in philosophy, film history, and film theory, culminating in his graduation as a film director from the Budapest Film and Theatre Academy in 2006. Since then, Kenyeres has been an active member of the European Film Academy, contributing to the advancement of European cinema.

His notable work, *Closing Time*, made a significant impact by premiering at the prestigious Venice Film Festival and garnering attention at over 30 international film festivals. Kenyeres gained early recognition with his short film *Before Dawn*, which competed at the Cannes Film Festival in 2005 and went on to win a Jury Prize at Sundance. Additionally, it was awarded the European Film Academy's Prix UIP for Best European Short in 2006, solidifying his reputation as a talented filmmaker.

In 2009, his third short film, *The History of Aviation*, was showcased at Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes and was featured in 50 film festivals worldwide. Kenyeres's first feature film, *Hier*, a European co-production, premiered in Competition at the Locarno Film Festival in 2018, further showcasing his evolving artistry and commitment to cinematic storytelling.
