Maryn E. Coote

Marju Marynel Kuut (February 12, 1946 – April 10, 2022) was a celebrated Estonian artist known for her multifaceted contributions as a singer, songwriter, music producer, and DJ. Born in Tallinn, Kuut's extraordinary talent was recognized early in her career when she was named the best jazz singer in the Soviet Union by the esteemed jazz publication Down Beat in 1965.

Throughout the 1970s, she gained popularity as the lead vocalist for notable bands such as MERL and MIR, showcasing her distinctive voice and dynamic stage presence. Kuut also made appearances in various variety shows, including Astoria, Tallinn, and Viru, further solidifying her status in the entertainment industry. In 1971, she expanded her artistic repertoire by participating in the film "Varastati Vana Toomas" and the rock opera "Imelugu," performed at the Vanemuine Theater.

Her impressive discography includes numerous compilation albums and solo projects, featuring standout CDs like "Raagus vysut" (2005) and "Marju Marynel Kuut" (2006), which celebrate her classic hits. In recognition of her significant impact on Estonian music, Kuut was honored with a lifetime achievement award, cementing her legacy as a beloved figure in the cultural landscape of Estonia.
