John Kahrs

John Kahrs, born on September 18, 1967, is a prominent American actor, animator, and film director known for his significant contributions to the animation industry. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from NSCAD University in 1990, which laid the foundation for his successful career in animation.

Kahrs began his professional journey at Blue Sky Studios in New York, where he honed his skills as an animator from 1990 to 1997. He then joined Pixar Animation Studios, contributing to beloved classics such as A Bug's Life, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille over a decade-long tenure. Transitioning to Disney, he took part in the animation of acclaimed films including Bolt, Wreck-It Ralph, and Frozen, and served as an animation supervisor for Tangled.

His work was recognized in 2013 when he won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film for his innovative 2012 short, Paperman. Shortly after this achievement, Kahrs departed from Walt Disney Animation Studios to pursue his own creative projects. In early 2014, it was announced that he would direct the animated feature Shedd for Paramount Animation.

In 2020, Kahrs made headlines again as he co-directed Over the Moon alongside Glen Keane, which premiered on Netflix. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature in 2021, showcasing Kahrs' enduring impact in the world of animation.
