Yukiji Asaoka, born on July 23, 1935, in Chūō, Tokyo, is a prominent Japanese singer and actress. As the daughter of renowned shin hanga artist Shinsui Itō, she has cultivated a diverse artistic heritage. Currently, she is married to actor Masahiko Tsugawa.

Asaoka's career took off when she joined the Takarazuka Revue, where she performed from 1952 to 1955 as a musumeyaku in the Moon Troupe (Tsuki). Her talents quickly gained recognition, leading to significant roles in various television series. Notably, she starred alongside Shintaro Katsu in both a film from the iconic Zatoichi series and the inaugural entry of the Hanzo the Razor trilogy, further establishing her presence in Japanese cinema.

While her acting career is impressive, Asaoka is perhaps best celebrated for her musical contributions. She has released numerous songs that resonate with audiences, showcasing her exceptional vocal abilities.
