George Roubicek
George Karl Roubicek, born on May 25, 1935, is an accomplished Austrian actor, dialogue director, and script adaptor known for his contributions to the English-language adaptations of international films and television series. Roubicek's acting career began in the 1950s and spanned several decades, during which he took on various supporting roles in notable films such as The Bedford Incident, Billion Dollar Brain, and The Dirty Dozen.
In 1967, he gained recognition for his appearance in the Doctor Who serial, The Tomb of the Cybermen. That same year, he portrayed Semenkin in the classic television series The Champions. Roubicek's filmography also includes a part as Imperial Commander Praji in the iconic Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, as well as roles in two James Bond films: You Only Live Twice and The Spy Who Loved Me.
While he continued to act in smaller roles in his later years, Roubicek shifted his focus toward dubbing foreign productions into English. He directed the dubbing for 13 episodes of the beloved Japanese series Monkey, a project he had initially contributed voice work to in the late 1970s. In 2008, he showcased his talent for adaptation by translating the French animated film Azur & Asmar: The Princes' Quest into English, further solidifying his legacy in the film industry.
