Jedda Jones
Comedian and actress Jedda Jones was born on August 8, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to parents Audrey Lieteau and Louis J. White. She completed her secondary education at Xavier University Preparatory School in 1970 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tulane University in 1974.
Following her graduation, Jones joined Bell South in New Orleans, where she quickly advanced to a managerial role, serving for a decade. In 1985, she transitioned to New York City to pursue her passion for stand-up comedy. During this time, she also honed her writing skills, crafting monologues and speeches for fellow comedian Marsha Warfield, even taking on the position of head writer for two seasons of The Martha Warfield Show.
Jones gained visibility through her performances on Fox's The Sunday Comics and participated in Montreal's renowned Just For Laughs Comedy Festival. She made her television acting debut as Celina in the series New Attitude, and in 1991, she appeared on Whoopi Goldberg’s HBO show Chez Whoopi. That year marked her film debut in Talkin’ Dirty After Dark and included a role in the thriller Shattered alongside Tom Berenger.
Her impressive filmography includes notable projects such as Indecent Proposal (1993), CB4, and a recurring role in the television series Tall Hopes. From 1994 to 1998, she enjoyed a recurring presence on Sister, Sister as Charlotte and Marjorie. She appeared in Warren Beatty’s Bulworth (1998) and the Oscar-winning film Ray (2004). In later years, Jones featured in The Final Destination and Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (2009) and continued to make her mark in the industry with roles in Snatched (2017).
