Igor Petrenko

Igor Petrovich Petrenko, born on August 23, 1977, in Potsdam, East Germany, is a distinguished Russian actor known for his contributions to both film and theater. He is the son of Soviet military officer Pyotr Vladimirovich Petrenko, a lieutenant colonel and candidate of chemical sciences, and Tatyana Anatolievna Petrenko, an accomplished English translator. The family relocated to Moscow when Igor was just three years old.

Petrenko's early interests included gymnastics, judo, and sambo, and he developed a passion for the English language during his school years. He graduated from The Shchepkin Higher Theatre School in Moscow in 2000, which paved the way for his successful acting career.

His breakout role came in the television series "Zvezda," which launched him into the spotlight and earned him the prestigious "Nika" award for "Discovery of the Year" in 2003. His performances have garnered significant recognition, including the State Prize of the Russian Federation awarded by President Vladimir Putin in 2002, and the "Triumph" Award for Best Young Actor in 2004.

In 2012, Petrenko showcased his versatility by taking on the iconic role of Sherlock Holmes in a new series inspired by Arthur Conan Doyle's works.
