Nigel Lambert
**Nigel Lambert** (11 May 1944 – 11 September 2024) was a distinguished English voice actor celebrated for his diverse contributions to film, television, and radio. He gained notable recognition as the narrator of the first series of the BBC's quirky comedy show *Look Around You* and for voicing Merle Ambrose in the popular MMORPG *Wizard101*.
Born in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, Lambert's fascination with acting began at the young age of 12. He honed his skills at the Arts Educational Trust School in Piccadilly, later attending the Italia Conti Stage School. His professional journey took him to Cork, where he joined a repertory company before completing his training at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). Following his education, Lambert performed extensively in repertory theatre across Ireland and Northampton, and at the Royal National Theatre.
His television credits include a memorable appearance in the 1967 episode of *The Avengers* titled "The 50,000 Pound Breakfast." In the realm of cinema, he portrayed athlete Ken Sparten in the 1969 horror-sci-fi film *Scream and Scream Again*. Later, he lent his voice to beloved characters such as Mr. Curry in *The Adventures of Paddington Bear* and Papa in the popular Dolmio pasta sauce commercials.
Lambert's versatility extended to voice acting in *Doctor Who*, where he played Hardin in *The Leisure Hive* (1980) and voiced the Priest Triangle in the 2021 episodes "War of the Sontarans" and "Once, Upon Time." He also appeared in the inaugural episode of *Blake's 7*, "The Way Back" (1978). With over 50 BBC audiobooks to his credit, Nigel Lambert's legacy in the arts remains cherished. He passed away on 11 September 2024 at the age of 80.
