Delos Jewkes
J. Delos Jewkes, a distinguished singer and actor, passed away from a heart attack on July 17, 1984, at the age of 89. His remarkable career spanned several decades, during which he lent his resonant voice to the iconic role of God in Cecil B. DeMille's epic film "The Ten Commandments." Jewkes appeared in approximately 300 films, sharing the screen with legendary stars such as Shirley Temple and John Wayne. He was also a prominent figure in the musical pairings of Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy, featuring prominently in all of their cinematic collaborations.
Jewkes began his musical journey in 1925, touring with various opera and light opera companies. His rich bass voice earned him a place in the prestigious Mormon Tabernacle Choir, where he showcased his talents alongside the Salt Lake Philharmonic Orchestra.
