Gabby Douglas, born on December 31, 1995, is a distinguished American artistic gymnast celebrated for her remarkable contributions to the sport. She gained global recognition as a member of the U.S. women's national gymnastics team, known as the Fierce Five, during the 2012 Summer Olympics. At these Games, she achieved an extraordinary feat by clinching gold medals in both the individual all-around and team events. Douglas further showcased her talents as part of the American team that secured gold at the World Championships in 2011 and 2015, where she also earned a silver medal in the all-around category.
In the 2016 Summer Olympics, Douglas was a key member of the Final Five, helping her team to another gold medal in the team competition. Notably, she made history as the first African American gymnast to win the individual all-around title, and she is the first U.S. athlete to win gold in both the individual and team events at the same Olympic Games. Alongside fellow gymnast Simone Biles, Douglas is one of only two American all-around champions to achieve multiple golds in a single Olympics. Her accomplishments also include being the 2016 AT&T American Cup all-around champion.
Beyond her athletic prowess, Douglas' inspiring journey has been celebrated in popular culture, including the 2014 Lifetime biopic, *The Gabby Douglas Story*, and her reality series, *Douglas Family Gold*.
