Earl Hindman
Earl John Hindman (October 20, 1942 – December 29, 2003) was a distinguished American actor, best remembered for his iconic portrayal of Wilson W. Wilson Jr., the affable neighbor whose face was famously kept out of view, on the hit sitcom *Home Improvement* (1991–1999). This role solidified his place in popular culture, endearing him to audiences throughout the show's successful run.
Before achieving fame on *Home Improvement*, Hindman showcased his versatility as an actor in the 1970s, where he played antagonistic characters in notable thrillers such as *The Taking of Pelham One Two Three* and *The Parallax View*. However, it was his long-running role as Bob Reid on the soap opera *Ryan's Hope* (1975–1989) that became a significant highlight of his early career. Over the course of 459 episodes, he portrayed the character of Bob Reid, a supportive ex-police officer known for his unrequited love and loyalty to his family, particularly his sister Delia Reid Ryan Coleridge.
Hindman's personal life intertwined with his professional one, as his wife, Molly McGreevey, played Polly Longworth on *Ryan's Hope* from 1977 to 1981, further enriching their connection to the soap opera world.
