Michael Kilgarriff

Michael Kilgarriff, born on June 16, 1937, in Brighton, is a distinguished British actor, author, and pianist, renowned for his commanding presence and deep, resonant voice. His impressive stature of six feet five inches (1.96 m) has often made him a perfect fit for larger-than-life roles in film and television. Among his notable performances, he is particularly recognized for his portrayal of the Cyber Controller in the iconic series Doctor Who, which he embodied in both 1967 and 1985.

Kilgarriff's contributions to Doctor Who extend beyond the Cyber Controller; he also played an Ogron in 1973 and took on the role of the K1 Robot in the story arc titled Robot (1974–75). His association with the Doctor Who universe continued with his reprisal of the K1 Robot in the audio adventure The Relics of Jegg-Sau produced by Big Finish Productions.

In addition to his work in Doctor Who, Kilgarriff lent his voice to a variety of characters, including Obelix in The Twelve Tasks of Asterix and SkekUng, the Garthim master in Jim Henson's fantasy film The Dark Crystal (1982). He appeared as the Green King in the BBC's The Moon Stallion (1978) and voiced multiple characters in the English dubbed version of the cult series Monkey in 1979, often portraying gruff and villainous figures.
