Roberto Carlos da Silva Rocha (born April 10, 1973), widely known as Roberto Carlos, is a Brazilian former professional footballer and current football ambassador. His career began in Brazil as a forward; however, he primarily established himself as a left back, earning a reputation as perhaps the most offensively minded left-back in football history. Regarded as one of the greatest left backs of all time, Carlos was renowned for his exceptional free kick capabilities, with shots recorded at speeds exceeding 105 miles per hour (169 km/h). In 1997, he finished as the runner-up for the FIFA World Player of the Year award and was later chosen for the FIFA World Cup Dream Team. In 2004, football legend Pelé included him in the FIFA 100 list of the greatest living players.

Carlos enjoyed an illustrious club career at Real Madrid, where he played from 1996 to 2007, making 584 appearances and scoring 71 goals. He won four La Liga titles and three UEFA Champions League trophies during his time there. Marca honored him as part of the "Best Foreign Eleven in Real Madrid's History" in April 2013. He announced his retirement from professional football in August 2012 at the age of 39.

On the international stage, Carlos earned 125 caps for the Brazil national team, participating in three World Cups, including the 2002 victory in South Korea and Japan. He ventured into management post-retirement, with stints at Sivasspor and Akhisarspor in Turkey, and later served as player-manager for Delhi Dynamos in the Indian Super League.
