Clarence Ford
Clarence Fok Yiu-Leung (Chinese: ιθθ―) is a prominent Hong Kong filmmaker celebrated for his direction of the cult classic Naked Killer (1992). Fok's journey in the film industry began after he completed his studies at the School of Design at the Hong Kong Polytechnic. He then embarked on a six-month training course in scriptwriting and directing at Redifussion TV, which marked the start of his television career.
In 1978, Fok joined TVB, where he quickly established himself as a director on various notable projects, including Conflict (1978), Over The Rainbow (1979), The Passenger (1979), The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (1979), The Bund (1980), Five Easy Pieces (1980), and Donβt Look Now (1980). His directorial debut came in 1980 with The Man from Vietnam, although the film did not see release until 1982. In 1981, he directed Job Hunter, featuring stars Danny Chan and Leslie Cheung, and was promoted to producer at TVB, overseeing significant series like No One is Innocent (1981).
Fok later decided to leave TVB to focus solely on film projects, paving the way for a successful career in cinema. His contributions to the industry, particularly in the action and thriller genres, have left a lasting impact on Hong Kong's film landscape.
