Jay North

Jay Waverly North (August 3, 1951 – April 6, 2025) was a prominent American actor celebrated for his work in television and film. He entered the entertainment industry at the tender age of six, captivating audiences in the early 1960s as the lovable yet mischievous Dennis Mitchell on CBS's hit sitcom Dennis the Menace, inspired by Hank Ketcham's beloved comic strip.

During his teenage years, North expanded his filmography with notable performances in two Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer films: Zebra in the Kitchen and Maya. He also starred in the NBC television adaptation of Maya, further solidifying his presence in the industry. In his adult career, North transitioned into voice acting, lending his talents to animated series. He voiced Prince Turhan in The Banana Splits Adventure Hour and a teenage Bamm-Bamm Rubble on The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show, showcasing his versatility.

After stepping away from the spotlight, North revealed the challenges he faced as a child actor. He became an advocate for the well-being of young performers, collaborating with fellow former child star Paul Petersen and the organization A Minor Consideration.
