Naoko Asari
Naoko Asari (浅梨 なおこ, Asari Naoko, born January 24) is a renowned sound engineer and animation sound director hailing from Tokyo, Japan. She began her career in 1981 at Omnibus Promotion, where she served as a sound assistant. Asari made significant contributions to many acclaimed Studio Ghibli projects, establishing herself as a key figure in the realm of animation sound design.
Throughout her career, Naoko has lent her expertise to various live-action films, as well as music and sound editing projects, showcasing her versatility in the industry. After a lengthy hiatus from animation sound direction that lasted nearly two decades, she returned to the field with an impressive role as the recording director for the 2013 film *The Tale of the Princess Kaguya*. This marked her first collaboration with Studio Ghibli in 17 years, following her earlier work on the beloved 1995 film *Whisper of the Heart*.
