Jim Lee
Jim Lee, born on August 11, 1964, in Seoul, South Korea, is a prominent Korean-American comic book artist, writer, editor, and publisher, currently serving as the Publisher and Chief Creative Officer at DC Comics. With a career spanning several decades, Lee has become a highly respected figure in the comic book industry, celebrated for his intricate and dynamic art style.
A recipient of the prestigious Harvey Award, Inkpot Award, and multiple Wizard Fan Awards, Lee's talent has been widely recognized. He earned the Harvey Special Award for New Talent in 1990 and the Inkpot Award in 1992, and he was honored with Wizard Fan Awards in 1996, 2002, and 2003.
Lee's career began after he graduated cum laude with a BA in Psychology from Princeton University in 1986. He initially made his mark at Marvel Comics, where his work on the X-Men achieved unprecedented success with sales of 8 million copies in a single month. In 1992, he founded WildStorm Productions and co-established Image Comics, which quickly ascended to become the third-largest publisher in North America. Two of his iconic creations, WILDCATS and GEN 13, transitioned beyond comics into animated adaptations.
After DC Comics acquired WildStorm in 1998, Lee joined their creative team, contributing to major projects such as BATMAN: HUSH and the NEW 52 initiative, where he redefined the looks of beloved characters like Batman and Superman. In 2010, Titan Books published ICONS: THE DC & WILDSTORM ART OF JIM LEE, showcasing his extensive work in the field.
