Ann McCrea
Ann McCrea, born on February 25, 1931, in DuBois, Pennsylvania, is a celebrated American actress recognized for her notable role as Midge Kelsey in the beloved sitcom, The Donna Reed Show. Standing at 5'5", she carved a niche for herself in both film and television.
Raised in a diverse household with a Greek mother and a Scottish father, McCrea initially pursued modeling, becoming a successful cover girl. Her big break came when she caught the attention of Bing Crosby, who encouraged her to pursue her dreams in Hollywood, California.
McCrea's acting career took off in 1952, when she made her screen debut in the film Deadline – U.S.A., where she played an uncredited role as "Sally Gardner." She further showcased her talent through guest appearances in various television shows, including Bachelor Father, Mr. Adams and Eve, and the iconic anthology series, The Twilight Zone.
In 1963, she landed the role of Midge Kelsey on The Donna Reed Show, which she portrayed until the series concluded in 1966. Midge was a pivotal character, serving as the best friend to Donna Stone, played by Donna Reed, in the show's charming suburban setting.
Following her tenure on The Donna Reed Show, McCrea continued to grace television screens with appearances in popular series such as The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and Murder, She Wrote. She also acted in films like Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? (1957) and Girls, Girls, Girls (1962).
