Catherine Weidner
Catherine Weidner is a distinguished educator, director, and actress known for her extensive contributions to the performing arts. Her recent performances include notable roles in productions such as *Little Women* and *Other Desert Cities* at the Hangar Theatre. Weidner has also made her mark as a director, helming productions like *Merry Wives of Windsor*, *Othello*, *As You Like It*, and *Two Gentlemen of Verona* at Theatre at Monmouth in Maine.
Her diverse portfolio features directing an adaptation of *Henry V* for Austin Shakespeare and *Emma* for Nebraska Repertory Theatre, alongside works like *Taming of the Shrew*, *Titus Andronicus*, and *Merry Wives of Windsor* for the Illinois Shakespeare Festival. She also directed *Or,* at Caffeine Theatre in Chicago.
Before 2013, Weidner gained experience at prestigious venues such as The Kennedy Center, where she worked on *A Streetcar Named Desire*, and at Arena Stage, directing *The Heidi Chronicles*. Her impressive resume includes engagements at The Guthrie Theater, La Jolla Playhouse, and Theatre de la Jeune Lune.
Weidner holds a BFA in Acting from Ithaca College and an MFA in Directing from the University of Minnesota, with additional training from Complicite in London and The Second City in Chicago. She directed various productions at Ithaca College Theatre and served as Chair of Theatre Arts from 2013 to 2021. Additionally, she was the Program Director for The Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Academy for Classical Acting and has taught at DePaul University. Weidner is a proud member of Equity and SAG-AFTRA and is certified as a Consent-Forward Artist by Intimacy Directors and Coordinators.
