Jan Axel "Hellhammer" Blomberg, born on August 2, 1969, in Trysil, Norway, is a highly acclaimed heavy metal drummer celebrated for his dynamic contributions to the genre. He has garnered three Spellemannprisen awards, marking him as a significant figure in Norwegian metal music. Hellhammer is best known for his influential role in the iconic band Mayhem, which he joined in 1988 after the exit of original drummer Kjetil Manheim.

In addition to his work with Mayhem, Blomberg co-founded the avant-garde metal outfit Arcturus in 1987, originally known as Mortem. This band gained a reputation for its innovative sound, before disbanding in April 2007.
