Candace Hilligoss, born on August 14, 1935, in Huron, South Dakota, is a distinguished American actress recognized for her contributions to film and theater. After dedicating three years to her studies at the University of Iowa, Hilligoss relocated to New York City, where she honed her craft at the American Theatre Wing. Her career began in earnest with her debut in summer stock theatre in Pennsylvania.
Throughout her early career, she performed at the renowned Cape Cod Playhouse and toured with a production of Idiot's Delight alongside Nina Foch. Hilligoss also showcased her talents on various television programs and captivated audiences as a dancer at the legendary Copacabana nightclub.
Her most iconic role came in 1962 when she portrayed Mary Henry, a church organist plagued by supernatural forces, in the cult classic horror film Carnival of Souls.
