Ellen Foley

Ellen Foley, born in 1951, is a multifaceted American singer and actress renowned for her dynamic contributions to both Broadway and television. She gained significant fame as a cast member of the beloved NBC sitcom Night Court during its second season. In the realm of music, Foley has released five solo albums, but her most notable works stem from her collaborations with rock icon Meat Loaf, particularly the monumental 1977 album Bat Out of Hell, which achieved 14× Platinum status.

Originally hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Foley is the daughter of John and Virginia B. Foley and pursued her education at Webster University. Her breakthrough moment came when she performed the duet "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" alongside Meat Loaf, a track that showcased her vocal prowess and character-driven performance. Although Karla DeVito featured in the music video, it was Foley's voice that resonated.

Foley's debut album, Night Out, released in 1979, featured the hit single "What's a Matter Baby," which climbed to No. 7 in the Dutch charts. Her subsequent works include collaborations with Ian Hunter and contributions to albums by acts like Blue Öyster Cult and The Clash. Notably, her tumultuous relationship with Mick Jones of The Clash inspired the song "Should I Stay or Should I Go."
