DeShaun Dupree Holton, born on October 2, 1973, and tragically passing away on April 11, 2006, is better recognized in the music world as Proof. Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, Proof made significant contributions as both a rapper and actor throughout his career. He was an integral part of several hip-hop collectives, including 5 Elementz, Funky Cowboys, Promatic, Goon Sqwad, and the well-known group D12.

Proof’s journey in the music industry was greatly influenced by his lifelong friendship with fellow Detroit native, Eminem. This close relationship not only fostered their mutual artistic growth but also led to Proof frequently serving as Eminem's hype man during live performances, showcasing his infectious energy and charisma.
