Icíar Bollaín Pérez-Mínguez, born on June 12, 1967, in Madrid, is a celebrated Spanish actress, director, and writer. Growing up in a family where her father was an aeronautical engineer and her mother a music teacher, Icíar discovered her passion for acting early on. She made her film debut at just 15 years old, appearing in Victor Erice's acclaimed film *El Sur* (1983). Over the years, she has featured in fourteen films and has become a prominent member of the Academia Española de Cinematografía.

Bollaín ventured into directing with her first feature film, *Hola, estas sola?* (1995), which tells the tale of two girls in search of an earthly paradise. Her second film, *Flores de otro mundo* (1999), co-written with Julio Llamazares, depicts the experiences of four women seeking love in rural Spain. One of her most notable works is *Te Doy Mis Ojos* (2003), a poignant exploration of an abusive relationship that garnered seven Goya awards, including Best Film.

In 2010, Bollaín directed *Even the Rain*, which represented Spain in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 83rd Academy Awards, ultimately making it to the final nine shortlist. Her diverse body of work reflects her talent and commitment to storytelling, making her a significant figure in Spanish cinema.
