Ryo Ishibashi
Ryo Ishibashi, born on July 20, 1956, in Kurume, Fukuoka, Kyūshū, Japan, is a prominent actor and international figure celebrated for his contributions to film and music. He gained global recognition for his performances in iconic Japanese horror films, including "Suicide Club" and "Audition." In the United States, he is particularly noted for his portrayal of Nakagawa in "The Grudge" and its sequel, "The Grudge 2."
Ishibashi's artistic journey began in 1977 when he founded the band ARB (Alexander Ragtime Band), which debuted in 1978 and released over a dozen albums before their breakup in 1990. After a hiatus, he revitalized his musical career by reuniting ARB and releasing the album "Real Life" in 1998. His film career took off in 1986 with his debut in "A-Hômansu," featuring the band's 13th single, "After 45," as the theme song. Over the years, Ishibashi has expanded his acting portfolio, earning acclaim beyond Japan and establishing a solid international presence.
His talent was recognized when he won the Best Actor award at the 11th Yokohama Film Festival for his work in "A Sign Days." Since 1987, Ishibashi has been married to actress Mieko Harada, and together they have three children.
