He pursued his passion for acting at New York University, enrolling in the Graduate Acting Program at the Tisch School of the Arts and graduating in 1977.

Sisto gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of the young Junior Soprano in the acclaimed HBO series The Sopranos. His impressive television résumé also includes notable roles in shows such as Star Trek: The Next Generation, Law & Order, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Blue Bloods, and Madam Secretary.
