Dante Varona

Dante Varona was a prominent Filipino actor and director, celebrated for his contributions to the Philippine film industry during the 1970s and 1980s. A notable figure among the era's action stars, he shared the limelight with legends such as Fernando Poe, Jr., Joseph Estrada, and Rudy Fernandez. Varona's cinematic journey began in 1968 with the film *Mangificent Siete Bandidas*, and he quickly gained recognition for his leading roles in *Master Stuntman* (1970) and *Leon Dimasupil* (1973).

One of his most iconic moments came in 1981 when he executed a daring stunt by jumping from the San Juanico Bridge for the film *Hari Ng Stunt* (King of Stunts). This breathtaking act transformed his career, marking a turning point that launched him into superstardom. The film was hailed as "the most death-defying action thriller of the year," solidifying Varona's status as a household name.
