Mikhail Sergeevich Boyarskiy, born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) in the RSFSR, USSR, is a celebrated Soviet and Russian actor, singer, and musician, recognized as a People's Artist of the RSFSR in 1990. He served as the artistic director of the Benefis Theater, which he founded in St. Petersburg, from 1988 until 2007. Boyarskiy pursued his passion for the performing arts at the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography, graduating in 1972 before joining the Lensoviet Theater under the direction of Igor Petrovich Vladimirov.

His theatrical debut was as an extra in the adaptation of Dostoevsky’s "Crime and Punishment," but he gained significant acclaim for his portrayal of the Troubadour in G. Gladkov's musical "The Troubadour and His Friends." His film career took off with the 1973 movie "Bridges," followed by a memorable role as the Italian tenor Ninardi in the musical "Straw Hat" (1974). Boyarskiy became a household name after starring as Silva in the 1975 film "Elder Son" and later as the Wolf in the 1976 musical fairy tale "Mama." His outstanding performance as Teodoro in the 1977 musical TV film "Dog in the Manger," based on Lope de Vega's play, is regarded as one of his finest works.

Throughout his illustrious career, Boyarskiy has received numerous accolades, including the Order of Friendship (2002), the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree (2009), and the Order of Honor (2020), among others. His contributions to culture and the arts have also been honored with the Medal "In Commemoration of the 300th Anniversary of St. Petersburg" in 2003 and the Badge of Honor "For Services to St. Petersburg" in
