Chen Tian Wen
Chen Tian Wen received his education at the now-closed Serangoon Garden Secondary Technical School. After completing the fifth batch of the artiste drama training program, he embarked on his acting career with the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) in 1984. With a black belt in taekwondo, Chen's martial arts skills enabled him to land numerous roles in wuxia dramas throughout the 1990s, often portraying characters involved in dynamic fight sequences. Additionally, he is a proud member of the Singapore Celebrity Soccer Team.
His performance in the critically acclaimed film "Ilo Ilo," which won accolades at the Cannes Film Festival, garnered significant attention, with The Straits Times praising his subtle and compelling portrayal.
Chen made headlines again when he starred in two parody music videos that captured widespread popularity online. The first video, "Unbelievable," became a sensation, particularly for its quirky line, "I so stunned like vegetable," which even caught the eye of TIME magazine. The second video, "Sandcastle in My Heart," featuring fellow actress Irene Ang, did not achieve the same level of fame but still contributed to his recognition as a versatile entertainer. Both parodies pay homage to popular Chinese music videos from the 1970s, especially those by renowned Singaporean artist Huang Ching Yuan.
