Chris Charlesworth is a prominent British music journalist and author, renowned for his extensive contributions to the music industry. From 1983 until 2016, he served as the managing editor of Omnibus Press, a role that solidified his influence in music publishing. Charlesworth is best recognized for his deep association with The Who, for whom he worked as an executive producer. Additionally, he held the position of publicist for David Bowie at RCA Records from 1979 to 1981, further showcasing his connections within the music world.

His journalism career began at the Craven Herald & Pioneer in his hometown of Skipton, before advancing to writing about music for the Bradford Telegraph. Between 1970 and 1977, he contributed to Melody Maker, where he held various roles including News Editor and US Editor while based in New York City. During his tenure, he conducted notable interviews with legendary artists such as John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Led Zeppelin, and Bruce Springsteen, among many others.

Charlesworth has also written extensively for numerous magazines across the UK and the US, and authored books focusing on various rock musicians. In 1995, at the request of Pete Townshend, he compiled and co-produced The Who's celebrated 4-CD boxed set, "30 Years of Maximum R&B," which was released internationally by Polydor Records and by MCA Records in the United States. He played a key role in enhancing The Who's back catalog for remastered CD releases, marking significant milestones in his career.
