Vernon Presley

Vernon Presley, a devoted family man, was deeply committed to creating a nurturing environment for his wife, Gladys, and their son, Elvis Presley. Born into a struggling farming family in Fulton, Mississippi, Vernon worked various jobs to support his family. He eventually took on a role as a truck driver for a local grocery store, striving to provide for his growing household.

In addition to his work, Vernon became a respected deacon at a local church, demonstrating his strong values and community involvement. Although he preferred to remain out of the spotlight as Elvis rose to fame, Vernon played a crucial role in managing his son’s career and the financial responsibilities tied to their estate at Graceland.

The bond between Vernon and Elvis was exceptionally close, characterized by mutual support and affection. After the untimely passing of Elvis in 1977, Vernon stepped into the position of executor of his son’s estate, ensuring that Elvis's legacy was preserved. Tragically, Vernon passed away just a short time later in 1979, but he left behind a lasting legacy intertwined with that of his son. Together, they are remembered for their deep familial ties and the impact they made on music and culture.
