James Carter Walker Jr., born on June 25, 1947, is a renowned American actor and comedian, better known as Jimmie Walker. He gained fame for his iconic role as J. J. Evans, the eldest son of Florida and James Evans Sr., on the CBS sitcom Good Times, which aired from 1974 to 1979. Walker's performance earned him Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series in both 1975 and 1976. His character became famous for the catchphrase "Dy-no-mite!" which he popularized not only on the show but also in a mid-1970s Panasonic commercial for cassette players and 8-tracks. In addition to Good Times, Walker starred alongside John Amos in Let's Do It Again and shared the screen with James Earl Jones in The Greatest Thing That Almost Happened. He remains active on the stand-up comedy circuit, performing across the country.

Walker's early career began in 1967 when he joined WRVR, the Riverside Church radio station. By 1969, he transitioned to stand-up comedy and was eventually discovered by the casting director for Good Times following his appearances on shows like Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. He even released a stand-up album titled Dyn-o-mite during his peak popularity. Interestingly, while Walker was 26 during the show's successful run, his character was significantly younger. Tensions arose on set, particularly with co-star Esther Rolle, who disapproved of Walker's character's direction, leading to a rift that contributed to the show's dynamics.
