Gonzalo Suárez
Gonzalo Suárez Morilla, born on July 30, 1934, in Oviedo, Spain, is a distinguished figure in the realms of literature and cinema, recognized for his work as a writer, screenwriter, and film director. He made his literary debut in 1963 with the novel *De cuerpo presente*, which marked the beginning of a prolific career.
Suárez ventured into film with notable success, particularly with his 1975 feature *The Regent's Wife*, which garnered international attention by being showcased at the 9th Moscow International Film Festival. His later work, *Don Juan in Hell*, released in 1991, also received a spot at the 17th Moscow International Film Festival, further cementing his reputation in the cinematic world.
In addition to his directorial pursuits, Suárez made a memorable appearance in Pedro Almodóvar's acclaimed film *¿Qué he hecho yo para merecer esto?* (What Have I Done to Deserve This?) in 1984, portraying the character of a married writer.
