Cristina Hoyos

Cristina Hoyos Panadero, born on June 13, 1946, in Seville, Spain, is a renowned flamenco dancer, choreographer, and actress celebrated for her significant contributions to the art of dance. Hoyos embarked on her dance journey at the tender age of twelve, appearing in the children's program Galas Juveniles. Her professional career took a pivotal turn in 1969 when she joined the prestigious ballet company led by Antonio Gades. Over the next twenty years, she traveled extensively, showcasing her extraordinary talent and featuring prominently in acclaimed films including the trilogy of Blood Wedding, Carmen, and El amor brujo.

In 1983, her portrayal of Carmen in Gades' ballet adaptation in Paris garnered widespread acclaim, solidifying her status as a leading figure in flamenco. In 1988, she established her own dance company, marking a new chapter in her career with a memorable debut at the Rex Theatre in Paris. Additionally, Hoyos played a prominent role in the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, further amplifying her influence.
