Novak Djokovic
Novak Djokovic, known affectionately as Nole, is a renowned Serbian tennis player who has established himself as one of the sport's all-time greats. As of October 2023, he holds the prestigious title of world No. 1, having maintained this ranking for an unprecedented 354 weeks. Djokovic has not only finished as the ATP Year-End No. 1 a record seven times but has also claimed a remarkable 20 Grand Slam singles titles, sharing the record with two other legends. Among his accolades are nine Australian Open victories, the most by any player in history.
Turning professional in 2003, Djokovic made his breakthrough at the age of 20 by winning his first Grand Slam at the 2008 Australian Open, ending the dominance of Federer and Nadal. By 2011, he had ascended to the No. 1 ranking for the first time and went on to dominate the sport, winning three major titles and five Masters events that season. He consistently led the ATP tour throughout the decade, securing multiple titles, including four consecutive ATP Finals from 2012 to 2015.
In 2016, Djokovic became the first player to achieve a non-calendar year Grand Slam since Rod Laver in 1969, holding all four major titles simultaneously on three different surfaces. On the international stage, he guided Serbia to its first Davis Cup victory in 2010 and won bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Djokovic has also been honored with the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award four times and has taken an active role in advocating for players' rights through the Professional Tennis Players Association, which he co-founded in 2020.
