Christopher Julius Rock III, born on February 7, 1965, is a multifaceted American entertainer renowned for his work as a comedian, actor, screenwriter, producer, and director. He has earned considerable acclaim in the comedy world, being ranked as the 5th greatest stand-up comedian of all time by Comedy Central in the United States. Across the pond, he was recognized as the 9th greatest stand-up comic in 2007 by Channel 4 in the UK and later moved up to 8th place in their 2010 update.

Rock's filmography includes memorable performances in movies such as Dogma, Beverly Hills Ninja, Lethal Weapon 4, Nurse Betty, The Longest Yard, and Down to Earth. He has also expanded his creative horizons by taking on directing and writing roles, notably in Head of State and I Think I Love My Wife.

In the fall of 2005, Rock's experiences as a youth inspired the creation of the UPN comedy series Everybody Hates Chris, where he served as executive producer and narrator. The show was met with both critical acclaim and strong viewership, earning nominations for a Golden Globe and two Emmys in 2006.
