David Geoffrey Clatworthy (11 July 1960 – 8 September 2020) was a distinguished South African actor and director, known for his remarkable contributions to theatre, film, and television.

Born in South Africa, Clatworthy attended Pretoria Boys High School before serving as the regimental instructor at the School of Artillery from 1978 to 1979. He pursued his passion for the performing arts at the University of Cape Town, where he earned a bilingual Performer's Diploma in Speech and Drama in 1983.

Clatworthy's personal life included a marriage to actress Wilmien Rossouw, with whom he had two children, and later a relationship with Michelle Botha, with whom he had a son. His battle with esophageal cancer ultimately led to his untimely passing at age 60.

Throughout his career, Clatworthy captivated audiences with standout performances in numerous theatrical productions, including "The King and I," "Macbeth," and "Long Day’s Journey Into Night," for which he received the Fleur Du Cap Award for Best Supporting Actor. He made his film debut in 1990 with "Return to Justice" and appeared in notable works such as "District 9" and "Mia et le lion blanc."

On television, Clatworthy showcased his talent in various series, including "On the Couch," "Mshika-shika," and the kykNET soap opera "Getroud met Rugby," where he also served as a director. With over 100 radio dramas to his credit, Clatworthy left a significant mark on the South African entertainment industry.
