John Daniel "Tooz" Matuszak was a multifaceted American talent known for his prowess as a professional football player and his subsequent career in acting. Born in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, Matuszak honed his athletic abilities at the University of Tampa, where he played college football. He went on to make his mark in the National Football League (NFL) as a defensive lineman, notably with the Houston Oilers. Additionally, he briefly joined the Houston Texans in the World Football League, although he did not see any game action with the team.

Transitioning to acting, Matuszak found success in the entertainment industry, with his breakout role in the 1979 film "North Dallas Forty," where he portrayed a football player. His filmography expanded with appearances in comedies such as "Caveman," "The Ice Pirates," and "One Crazy Summer," but he is perhaps best remembered for his iconic portrayal of Sloth in the beloved adventure film "The Goonies."

Matuszak also made guest appearances on various popular television series, including "Perfect Strangers," "M*A*S*H," "The Dukes of Hazzard," "Hunter," "Silver Spoons," "The A-Team," "1st & Ten," "Miami Vice," and "Cheers."
