Owen Ramsay Nares, born on August 11, 1888, in Maiden Erlegh, Berkshire, England, was a distinguished actor whose career spanned both stage and film. In addition to his performances, Nares showcased his literary talents with the publication of his book, *Myself, and Some Others* in 1925.

Nares embarked on his film journey with *Dandy Donovan* in 1914, marking the beginning of a prolific career that included a remarkable 25 silent films. The early 1920s represented a peak in his cinematic achievements, as he frequently starred alongside prominent actresses like Gladys Cooper, Fay Compton, Madge Titheradge, and Daisy Burrell, solidifying his status as a leading man of the era.

As the film industry transitioned to sound, Nares's extensive experience on stage kept him relevant, leading to roles in early talkies. However, as he matured, his appearances shifted to supporting roles in his final six films. Notably, in 1942, he took part in a revival of Robert E. Sherwood's *The Petrified Forest* and toured with the production across Northern England and Wales.

Tragically, during one such tour, Nares suffered a heart attack and passed away on July 30, 1943, in Brecon, Brecknockshire, Wales, at the age of 54. His contributions to stage and film remain an integral part of early 20th-century entertainment history.
