Michèle Bernard-Requin

Michèle Bernard-Requin (May 7, 1943 – December 14, 2019) was a distinguished French lawyer and magistrate whose career spanned several decades and various prominent legal roles. Beginning her professional journey in 1966, she served as a lawyer at the Court of Appeal in Paris until 1981, where she honed her legal expertise.

Following her time in private practice, Bernard-Requin ascended to significant prosecutorial positions, serving as procureur général in Rouen, Nanterre, and ultimately Paris. In 2003, she was appointed as a Councillor for the Court of Appeal of Paris, a role she held until 2007. Notably, in 2006, she presided over the Cour d'assises in Paris, showcasing her leadership within the judicial system.

In 2007, Bernard-Requin relocated to Martinique, where she took on the role of General Councillor in Fort-de-France, serving until 2009. Her contributions to the French legal landscape were marked by a commitment to justice and public service.

Tragically, Michèle Bernard-Requin passed away from cancer on December 14, 2019, at Sainte-Périne Hospital in Paris, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to the law and the judiciary. Her career remains a testament to her influence and service within the French legal community.
