He made a remarkable mark on the music industry as a pianist, composer, arranger, and conductor, gaining acclaim for his extensive catalog of film and television scores that seamlessly blended jazz, Latin American influences, and classical orchestration.

Among Schifrin's most iconic works are the unforgettable themes for "Mission: Impossible" (1966) and "Mannix" (1967), along with notable scores for films such as "Cool Hand Luke" (1967), "Bullitt" (1968), "THX 1138" (1971), and "Enter the Dragon" (1973). His talents extended to soundtracks for "The Four Musketeers" (1974), "Voyage of the Damned" (1976), "The Eagle Has Landed" (1976), "The Amityville Horror" (1979), and the "Rush Hour" trilogy (1998-2007). Schifrin collaborated extensively with Clint Eastwood during the late 1960s through the 1980s, particularly on the "Dirty Harry" series, and composed the Paramount Pictures fanfare that graced the big screen from 1976 until 2004.
