Jonathan Anthony Solis Lapus, more commonly recognized as John Lapus or affectionately called “Sweet,” was born on July 7, 1973, in Manila, Philippines. He is a multifaceted Filipino actor, comedian, and television host, whose career has spanned decades, showcasing his versatility in the entertainment industry.

John is the son of the late Jojo Lapus, a prominent showbiz columnist. He began his professional journey in 1993 as a researcher for ABS-CBN's "Showbiz Lingo." A graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, he actively participated in the university's Teatro Tomasino. His rise to fame came through various appearances on ABS-CBN shows, where he also took on the role of Creative Consultant for Star Cinema, the network's film division. His nickname "Sweet" originated from his memorable role in the sitcom "Arriba, Arriba!"

In 2006, Lapus made a significant move to GMA Network, where he joined "S-Files." Following the show's conclusion, he became the main host of "Showbiz Central," alongside Pia Guanio and Raymond Gutierrez, which revitalized his career. Notable works include a planned role as the antagonist Ida in "Zaido," though the part ultimately went to Paolo Ballesteros.

Lapus has received several accolades, notably the Best Male Stand-Up Comic award at the Aliw Awards in 2006 and Best Game Show Host at the PMPC Star Awards in 2004. Openly gay, he later returned to ABS-CBN, featuring in series such as "Ikaw Ay Pag-ibig," "Kahit Konting Pagtingin," and currently in "Mirabella," where he portrays Paeng Robles, the foster father of Mirabella.
