Peter Chen Ho, originally named Chen Shang-Ho, was born in Shanghai and earned the title of the "King of Comedy" within the Mandarin film industry. He made his cinematic debut in the film "Qiu Jin, the Revolutionary Heroine," but it was his role in "Songs of the Peach Blossom River" that catapulted him to fame, establishing him as a beloved figure in Chinese cinema. Renowned for his talent in both comedy and musical genres, Chen's filmography boasts several notable titles, including "Les Belles," "Love Parade," "The Dancing Millionaires," "Hong Kong Nocturne," and "Hong Kong Rhapsody," each contributing to his legacy as a pioneering entertainer.
In a significant moment in his personal life, Chen married fellow actress Betty Loh Ti in 1962, capturing public attention; however, the marriage was short-lived, ending after five years. Tragically, Peter Chen Ho passed away from bowel cancer in New York on April 17, 1970, at the young age of 40.
